What is B.G.O?
One Sunday morning I was on Digg.com and I came across this article. It was a great article about a scientist that was part of the Human Genome project. Apparently, he has found God and he was stating that the more we know about human kind the closer we get to God. Well as I always do I read the comments under the article submission and it didn't take me long to find this exchange:
Commenter: "It's beautiful how he combines his love for science and believe in God."
Commenter: "Fool"

Well at first this infuriated me and I started writting a blog post that pointed out the reason that GODSurfer.com was created. But then as I was researching the quotes for my post I found this one (which I had just heard in the movie "Passion of the Christ"):
"But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies…" Luke 6:27

He then went on to say: "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them." Luke 6:32

It was at this time that it dawned on me that we (the Christian community) can't hide from the non-Christians even though they persecute us. We need to embrace and love those people. I believe that this thought was from God himself. As we need to reach out to the unsaved and tell the story about Jesus Christ.

Ok... So what is B.G.O?
So after this thought was planted in my head I began to think of a way to bring God to the masses. When I say masses I really mean the Internet community. So "Bringing God Online" was the tag line and B.G.O was born!

The Mission:
The mission of B.G.O is to create a membership where people who agree that we need to get the word of Jesus Christ to the Internet masses to sign up and give their e-mail address. Basically by doing this you would be willing to vote on articles that are brought to the membership. The very best of these articles would then get submitted to sites like Digg.com and Reddit.com (and other Social Networking sites). When the article is submitted the membership would then vote up the article on digg (and the others), as well as submit positive comments and bury any negative comments (and believe me, the comments will be very negative).

The idea is, that if we have a big enough membership, we would be able to get the word out and allow the story to get to the front page (or top billing) of all the social networking sites. This way the story could reach many people that would not have normally gotten to read it.

What's the purpose?
To try to save people by getting stories about Jesus Christ out in the mainstream Internet (where they would normally not be found).

The Goals:
In order for us to have a sucessful campaign we will need to have a large membership base. So the very first goal is going to be 500 to 1000+ members. It sounds like a lot but trust me, if we don't have enough people combating the negative comments and enough votes then our efforts will be wasted. 1000 members I think would be optimal, but we will start with looking at 500 for now.

Ok, so what should I do?
Well, keep on posting to GODSurfer because it is a good primer on how other social networking sites work. But also visit Digg.com,Reddit.com, Shoutwire.com to see what is going on there and create accounts with those sites. There are lots of new ones creeping up everyday, but those are the big 3 in my opinion.

How do I become part of this program?
To become a member of this program please read over the following Statement of Faith:

What should I do in the mean time?
Pray! Pray to God that this program glorifies Him. Pray that this program saves someone that wouldn't ordinarily be saved. Pray to God for His blessing on the program. Pray that He protects the membership from spiritual attacks so that it can flourish.
