What is GODSurfer.com?
- GODSurfer is the base for a Social Networking site for Christians. People that visit GODSurfer.com can not only view the sites listed but also add their favorite Christian websites. There are millions of Christian websites out there. So if you know of 1 or 100, feel free to add them.

Why did you build GODSurfer?
- I built GODSurfer.com because I am a web developer who loves Jesus :). Honestly, I love sites such as Digg.com and Reddit.com but they are so anti-God that I thought it might be cool to have a site that does what they do, but for God! There are other sites out there that do the same thing, but the Internet is plenty big to have a couple of us out there.
What did you use to build GODSurfer?
- I built GODSurfer from the ground up using PHP, mySQL, JavaScript, AJAX and CSS. It is a labor of love and I owe many thanks to the multitude of websites out there that provided support that helped me build what you see today.
Why does everything keep moving?
- There are a lot of entries into the GODSurfer database. Many of those entries have really great Articles, Blogs and Websites that were added early on. I wanted a way to show those too, so GODSurfer now loops through those entries. If you leave the looping on long enough, any new entries that have been added since you logged in will automatically get added to the loop. It is pretty cool!
However... I realize that this feature may not be intuitive to everyone. So now there is a Play and a Pause button. The page automatically loads the first time as stopped. But if you click on the Play button the looping begins. If you see a story that interests you, click on the Pause button to stop the loop. When you are ready to start the loop again, press the Play button. :)
Why are there Ads on GODSurfer?
- The Ads are from Google. This site costs money to run (not a lot but some). I don't expect to get rich off of GODSurfer.com but if it can help me offset the cost of running it then it will serve it's purpose. I pledge to give 10% of everything I make to my church that I attend (www.whylifechurch.com).
Why is my link listed on the BLOG instead of the main page?
- The main display page has limited space for everything that needs to be displayed. I felt that hosting the links that link back to GODSurfer.com would be better served on the BLOG.
What is a "Social Networking site"?
- A social network service focuses on the building and verifying of online social networks for communities of people who share interests and activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others, and which necessitates the use of software. What is a BLOG?
- Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketchblog, videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), audio (podcasting) are part of a wider network of social media. Micro-blogging is another type of blogging which consists of blogs with very short posts. As of December 2007, blog search engine Technorati was tracking more than 112 million blogs. Something looks different...
- Well that maybe because you are using IE 6. This browser was the standard for many years. Although GODSurfer.com has been tested on IE6 (and it works ok), however I found that it works better on IE7 and FireFox! I recommend FireFox in general, the browser seems to be a better browser and they say it is safer to use. You can find it here. IE7 sees to show the site fine as well, however, Firefox is still better (in my humble opinion).
